HB-818 Horizontal Bar

HB- 818 ELITE Horizontal Bar

The American 818 Horizontal Bar meets FIG, USAG, NCAA and National High School Federation competition specifications.

The 818 horizontal bar is unique because of an adjustment system that actually surpasses competiton specifications.

This system utilizes two chrome plated pistons (A) in combination with the exclusive American dual spin and snap lock mechanisms (B), and assist springs (C).

Height is quickly and easily adjusted from 88-5/8" (2250 mm) to 116-1/8 (2950 mm) in 50 mm increments.

The bar, made of high strength steel, treated to a minimum yield of 201,000 psi, has a shot pinged finish to reduce bar fatigue.

Both uprights are power coated resting on non-marking foot pads. Four guy cables with steel alloy swivel anchors attach to four floor plates. (Floor plates not included.)

407-489 Competitive Horizontal Bar   $2415

AMERICAN CLASSIC SERIES 618 HORIZONTAL BAR  Call for price

Two things are harmful to a horizontal bar – sanding it and over-flexing it. Either can damage it and shorten its life.

People sand bars to roughen them up so as to provide a better gripping surface on the bar. Sanding, however, puts minute scratches on the surface. During the thousands of times the bar is flexed during its life, some of these small scratches grow into small cracks then larger cracks. If the bar is then flexed hard enough and often enough, the crack can spread deeper into the bar and cause it to break.

More and more difficult moves are being done on the horizontal bar, which causes more and deeper flexing of the bar. If, in addition to the deeper flexing, the bar has incurred a deep surface scratch or crack, the life of the bar could be significantly shortened

American has introduced a new Elite Series 400, top of the line, horizontal bar for high level competition. This great new bar has a scientifically textured surface that provides a permanent gripping surface that is always "just right." It never needs roughening and it’s very easy to clean and chalk up.

To clean it, simply spray it lightly with plain water and wipe it off with a cloth, then chalk it up. Since the bar is stainless steel, it won’t rust, ever. Another great new feature is that the bar will withstand a substantially higher number of severe or maximum flexes than ordinary smooth bars. During American’s destruction testing, the bars withstood more than five times as many maximum flexes before failing.

These features give American’s new Eliteä Series 818 Horizontal bar a significant edge over all comers. It is currently in production and priced at $2415.00

Horizontal Bar Safety Notice

Based on data supplied by the FIG Safety Symposium, AAI strongly recommends that the horizontal bars and mounting collars be examined for wear on a regular basis, and be replaced every three (3) years, to reduce the possibility of breakage. The newer moves being performed are applying greater impact loads and vibrations on the bar.
